Two thieves enter the same dungeon searching for a gem worth incredible wealth, but what they find along the way is worth more than all the treasure in the dungeon combined. This is the BYU Center for Animation's 2025 short animated film project.

When she discovers a pearl in the belly of a fish, a Konkani fisherwoman resigned to a mundane life of daily struggle, abandons her trade and indulges in her wildest fantasy. She buys herself a brightly colored rickshaw (“tuk tuk”) and starts to cruise at lightning speed through the winding roads of her coastal village, with her cats in tow. Finally released from her daily drudgery, ecstatic at her newly found sense of power and freedom, she is the talk of the town and her own greatest hero, when, suddenly, an accident threatens to thwart her indomitable spirit.

An exuberant, wild and joyous tale about a woman’s awakening of dormant desires, that celebrates the thrill of adventure and the triumph of dreaming big and pursuing even our most wacky, psychedelic fantasies against all odds. Soulfully told in loud color and trippy animation, the film has won India’s National Award for Animation

It seems like all of Suresh’s stories come from the Mumbai streetscape. The brash and burly fisherwoman that squeezed through the mad traffic jam in Worli, to get to the other side of the road, happened to walk in front of Suresh, who was already frustrated by the delay to get to a client meeting. As the narrow gap between Suresh’s car and the huge BEST bus in the front( yes, that’s what Mumbai’s bus service is called!) was too little for her to pass through, she got irritated at him for being so close to the bus. Showering him with abuses with precious animated gestures for parking so close, she gathered enough momentum to squeeze through that patch.. Eriyat, both rattled and dumbfounded, sat back and wondered if there was any possible comeback to her aggression. He wondered how effortlessly she meted out such choicest cuss words which he considered solely as a man’s license a few minutes before! She kept looking back at him to check if he dared to get back at her. But she didn’t know that he had already made a mental sketch of her. By the time he reached his studio, he had a storyline and character sketch ready!

About Aaron Blaise:

Aaron Blaise is an animation feature film director and wildlife artist.

For 21 years Aaron worked with Disney helping to create some of the greatest animated films ever made. During that time he worked as an animator or supervising animator on "The Rescuers Down Under", "Beauty and the Beast", "Aladdin", "The Lion King", "Pocahontas", "Mulan" and more.

In 2003 he was co-director of "Brother Bear" for which he earned an Oscar nomination for Best Animated Feature Film.

After "Brother Bear" he helped to develop several projects but ultimately left Disney to pursue an opportunity back home in Florida. House Special creative director Kirk Kelley in Portland, Oregon: "'A Tale of Momentum & Inertia' is one of our Short Stuff™ projects. The driving force behind Short Stuff™ is to create short animated films from ideas our staff pitch and then develop – ideas we think are funny and interesting, and ultimately reflect and hone our collective studio voice. "The fun thing about our Short Stuff™ projects is that the entire studio has opportunities to contribute and try out new skill sets that the schedules for client projects typically don't allow. People take on new and different roles as they pitch in to help make the shorts happen. "This project was pitched by Kam Gates, who was a staff CG animator at the time, based on an idea of his and his long-time friend and writer Allan Turner. At its heart it's a creation myth, only this world has a creator of questionable benevolence.

"The final story stemmed from bouncing ideas back and forth about what this creator of mountains would do if he made a slight mistake, how he would correct it and what the consequences might be. Have you ever stepped on an anthill? "Giving the world a tactile feeling that was also graphic in nature was the constant challenge. This applied not only to the environment but also the main character, composed entirely of rocks. He needed to be expressive and empathetic for the viewers to connect with him, while at the same time feeling completely rigid and imposing as a massive bundle of rocks. "Kam has a background in sculpture, so using actual rocks he gathered from where he grew up in Lake of the Woods, Ontario, the initial design was conceived.

"Scale and rigging of the character [were the main technical challenges]. The first hurdle was to make the character move in a way which felt more like plate tectonics than bones and muscle. This involved sliding rocks instead of bending joints and is a unique challenge to make the rigging of the body feel both natural and solid. "Next, the world had to feel massive to telegraph the character's physical scale. The number of trees built to fill the forest is mind-boggling. We even added trees to his body. And then a lot of work was done to destroy all of those trees." The 3D animated short film, "Bent Out of Shape" follows the story of a dull, square woman and her child living in a dull, square world. However, when a bright, circular neighbor moves in next door, the square woman begins to feel that her lifestyle is being threatened. Even worse, she worries that her square child may be affected by the circular neighbor's influence...

This short film was completed over the course of a couple of years, and created entirely by Chloe Merwin as a senior thesis project in the Computer Animation program at Ringling College of Art and Design.

A fluffy white cat wants nothing more than to find the most comfortable spot in the universe,
but little does she know someone else has their eye on it too.

We meet Ditto, a fluffy plump and sleepy white cat. However, the universe seems out to get
her as she tries to find the most comfortable spot to take her nap. She finally falls upon the
most wonderful warm yellow cushion she's ever pounced upon. No spot has ever been so
comfortable. But little does she know a fuzzy winged intruder, Monty, has his eye on it too.
Monty is by no way bashful in disturbing Ditto's slumber. He is inherently attracted to warm
bright spots, but you'd think he'd stay loyal to the all-seeing light in the sky...but that cushion
is so goddamn comfy! Monty will go to any lengths to knock Ditto from that comfy spot, but at
what consequence?
