So today, we’re going to take a look at computing’s origins, because even though our digital computers are relatively new, the need for computation is not. Since the start of civilization itself, humans have had an increasing need for special devices to help manage laborious tasks, and as the scale of society continued to grow, these computational devices began to play a crucial role in amplifying our mental abilities. From the abacus and astrolabe to the difference engine and tabulating machine, we’ve come a long way to satisfying this increasing need, and in the process completely transformed commerce, government, and daily life.

This gaming pc came into my shop because the SSD wasn't recognized and it wasn't booting. And like every other gaming computer and laptop that comes into my shop, it was absolutely caked with dust and held together by duct tape. So I'm going to clean this PC! It's amazing how resilient technology is when it's abused and neglected like this depressed piece of tech

This is The World's Smallest Computer

At first you might think of this famous picture. But that isn't actually a computer. It's a set of 128 IBM computers. Just 1 of those computers in a pile of salt, looks like this, and can run Doom. But until 2022, those were actually the smallest computers.

Now, scientists have made one a lot smaller.

It's made by a team at the University of Michigan. And their goal is to get computers small enough to fit in biological cells. This is what they have so far. A tiny computer programmed by flashing light in a pattern. Some of them even have image sensors. And compared to a grain of rice, this is what it looks like.

But because it's so small, you could easily think that
