I Turned This Old PC Into an All-in-One Entertainment Center!

In this video, I take a 2014 Dell OptiPlex 7020 and see how far I can push it by turning this Old PC into an All-in-One Entertainment Center.

The goal is simple: combine Linux, Android TV, Steam gaming, retro console emulation, and DVD playback into one machine.

I start by upgrading the hardware and installing Kubuntu as the main operating system. Then I set up Android TV through Waydroid, turn Steam into a console-like experience with Big Picture Mode, and dual boot Batocera for retro gaming. Finally, I use Flex Launcher to bring everything together into one simple interface.

Of course, turning an Old PC into an All-in-One Entertainment Center isn't exactly straightforward. I ran into GPU problems, Waydroid issues, Android TV limitations, controller problems, and plenty of Linux troubleshooting along the way.

The final result isn't perfect, but that's exactly what makes this experiment interesting. This Old PC can still do a surprising amount more than its original office-PC purpose would suggest.
