Noa Argamani is seen sitting on the back of a motorcycle, reaching out to her helpless boyfriend, pleading for her life.

Israel declared war on Palestinian militant group Hamas on Sunday after its surprise incursion from Gaza. The three-day conflict has already claimed the lives of over 1,100 people on both sides, with more than 700 killed in Israel, including 44 soldiers.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Hamas’s offensive was the beginning of a "long and challenging war” and vowed to destroy the militant group’s hideouts. Meanwhile, in Gaza, which endured relentless Israeli airstrikes on Sunday, officials have reported at least 413 deaths.

Hamas gunmen have killed around 250 people who attended an outdoor music festival in Israel's Negev Desert, according to a spokesperson for Israeli humanitarian NGO Zaka. Thousands of music-lovers had danced through the night at the Supernova festival in a remote area of southern Israel near the border with the Gaza Strip when Hamas forces stormed across the border, shooting people in the communities and towns near Gaza.

Hamas has warned it will begin broadcasting the execution of hostages if Israel targets “innocent civilians" by continuing to bomb the Gaza Strip.

The terror group said it had taken “dozens” of soldiers hostage since Saturday's surprise attack on Israel where it launched thousands of rockets and conducted air and land attacks.

Israel responded to the attacks by Hamas with a “complete siege” on Gaza as it vowed to respond with a force “like never before”.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned that retaliation attacks have “only just begun,” adding that this week’s events will change the Middle East landscape forever.

The death toll from both sides has now passed 1,500.
