The 2024 WNBA Expansion Draft is here! Our host make their picks for the Golden State Valkyries, the exciting new WNBA expansion team. They believe Hayley Jones from the Atlanta Dream, Lindsay Allen from the Chicago Sky, and Veronica Burton from the Connecticut Sun would be key players to build the team around. They also pick Kalani Brown from the Dallas Wings and Nalyssa Smith from the Indiana Fever as solid additions to the roster.

For the Valkyries, Travis and Ountae decide to pass on a pick from the Las Vegas Aces, but they believe Li Yueru from the LA Sparks and Alissa Pili from the Minnesota Lynx would be excellent choices. The WNBA is facing serious criticism despite its recent surge in popularity, thanks to stars like Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese. Attendance is up 156%, viewership averages 1.3 million, and online store sales skyrocketed by 756%. However, the league is still losing $50 million, partly due to charter flights. Controversially, the WNBA changed its media policy to limit Angel Reese’s press availability, even though her rivalry with Caitlin Clark boosted the league’s visibility. This, combined with Caitlin Clark not being invited to Team USA, raises questions about the WNBA's management.
