Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has spoken at his rally in Grand Rapids, Michigan, about the failed assassination attempt.

Mr Trump is holding a rally alongside his vice presidential pick, JD Vance, a week after the attack by the would-be assassin – however, the event is being held indoors this time.

“Let me begin this evening with a very special thanks to Americans nationwide, including all of you here today, for your extraordinary outpouring of love and support in the wake of the horrific last Saturday event,” he said.

“I shouldn’t be here right now, but something very special happened.”

Trump insiste en que Biden "nunca fue" apto para el cargo. "Él solo alcanzó la posición de presidente por mentiras, fake news, y no salir de su sótano. Todos los que le rodeaban, incluidos su médico y los medios de comunicación, sabían que no era capaz de ser presidente, y no lo fue", ha escrito.

Former President Donald Trump was the target of an apparent assassination attempt Saturday at a Pennsylvania rally, just days before he was to accept the Republican nomination for a third time. Amidst a barrage of gunfire, a bloodied Trump, who reported being shot in the ear, was surrounded by Secret Service and hurried to his SUV, all while defiantly pumping his fist.

Trump’s campaign has since stated that the presumptive GOP nominee is doing “fine” after the shooting, which pierced the upper part of his right ear. The incident set off panic at the rally, with many attendees seeking cover from the unexpected violence.

Billionaire Elon Musk reacted to the incident, stating Saturday evening that he "fully" supports Donald Trump. Musk’s statement has added a new dimension to the unfolding events, as he also hinted at potential political endorsements in the upcoming election.

Joe Biden has ended his re-election campaign and endorsed Kamala Harris as the Democratic candidate.

“President Joe Biden has given up; he’s dropped out the election race against Donald Trump with just 105 days left now until polling day.

“For Kamala Harris to win, she has to be a Harris we’ve never seen, she has to be backed with an enthusiasm among Democrats that we haven’t seen, and she has to be campaigning with fresh policies that we haven’t seen.

“I’d say Donald Trump is still the favourite … but he is still a mistake or two from losing this, and one mistake could be taking Kamala Harris for granted – airhead or not.”
