Frank Bruno vs James Tillis in a ten round non-title heavyweight bout

Date: March 24, 1987

Venue: Wembley Arena, London

Bruno stance: orthodox

Tillis stance: orthodox

Frank Bruno got his first shot at a world title when he challenged Tim Witherspoon for the WBA belt in 1986. After a promising start, Bruno faded late in the fight, and was stopped in the eleventh. Bruno then took eight months off.

James Tillis also challenged for the WBA title, losing on points to Mike Weaver in 1981. Since then, he had lost most of his fights with contenders, including Pinklon Thomas, Greg Page and Tim Witherspoon. Tillis had given a good account of himself against Mike Tyson in 1986, with some observers believing he should have been given the win that night. His record was 36-11-1, and was clearly past his best, but still capable of giving a stern test to any heavyweight who underestimated him.

For an in depth look at their respective records, visit:

Frank Bruno - https://boxrec.com/en/proboxer/505

James Tillis - https://boxrec.com/en/box-pro/803

He was catapulted into country music fame in 1956 with his composition "The Auctioneer", co-written with Buddy Black, which sold over 2.5 million records. He wrote the song about the life of his cousin, National Auctioneers Association Hall of Famer Ray Sims, also a Missourian. On February 13, 2012, President Barack Obama awarded Tillis the National Medal of Arts for his contributions to country music. He also has won the CMA Awards' most coveted award, Entertainer of the Year. He is also known for his speech impediment, which does not affect his singing voice. His daughter is country music singer Pam Tillis.

This performance was recorded live at Church Street Station in Orlando, Florida.

When You Walk in the Room

I can see a new expression on my face
I can feel a strange sensation taking place
I can hear the guitars playing lovely tunes
Everytime that you walk in the room

I close my eyes for a second and pretend
It's me you want
Meanwhile I try to act so nonchalant
I see a summer night with a magic moon
Everytime that you walk in the room

Maybe it's a dream come true
Standing right along side of you
Wish I could show you how much I care
But I only have the nerve to stare

I can feel that something pounding in my brain
Just anytime that someone speaks your name
Trumpets sound and I hear thunder boom
Everytime that you, everytime that you
Everytime that you, walk in the room

Written by Jackie DeShannon.

Pam Tillis Mi Vida Loca Live Video 1994
Pam Tillis Mi Vida Loca Lyrics
If you're comin with me
You need nerves of steel
'Cause I take corners on two wheels
It's a never ending circus ride
Faint of heart need not apply
Mi vida loca
Over and over
Destiny turns on a dime
I go where the wind blows
You can't tame a wild rose
Welcome to my crazy life
Here in the firelight I see your tatoo
Mi vida loca, so you're crazy too
Mi vida loca
Over and over
Destiny turns on a dime
I go where the wind blows
You can't tame a wild rose
Welcome to my crazy life
