Did you know the Philippine islands have a hidden meaning?
These are Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.
Let’s start with Luzon. Its name comes from “lusong,” a wooden rice mortar tied to the island’s rice culture. Spanish records later called the locals “Luçon,” and over time, that became Luzon.
Moving on to Visayas—the name is believed to trace back to the Sri Vijaya Empire, a powerful kingdom in Southeast Asia. Some historians suggest that ‘Vijaya’ evolved into ‘Bisaya,’ which later became Visayas.
Finally, Mindanao. The name comes from the Maguindanao people. The word is a combination of “Magin,” meaning “people,” and “danaw,” meaning “lake.” So, Mindanao simply translates to “people of the lake.”

This short tells a story about what would happen if the Philippines flipped their flag, and got every country they want. They would start with taking Vietnam, who would be no match for their force. After taking them, they would move in to attack Japan, who would have a strong army, but still wouldn't be enough. North and South Korea would be their next targets, but would end up having a hard battle, and eventually winning. China would have enough, and would try to end them, but that would backfire, resulting in the Philippines taking the entire China, becoming the biggest Asian superpower in the world.

In 2022, a small town in the Philippines elected its first female mayor, a popular figure named Alice Guo who brought prosperity and new business to the area. But just a few years later, a police raid revealed her alleged connections to a $2 billion Singapore money laundering scandal and even claims of Chinese espionage.
