We're fortunate to live close to several wilderness areas here in the Rocky Mountains so I decided to squeeze in one more catch and cook before heading to Kodiak Alaska for my next big trip. This time I'm joined by my oldest son Coye and our lab Cedar for a 3 day camping and fishing trip into the wilderness. We'll hike into several backcountry alpine lakes to camp, fly fish, and enjoy the sights and sounds of nature. We see a variety of wildflowers and wildlife along the way as well as a few different species of trout. The fishing was tough but I was able to catch a few trout for dinner! I'll demonstrate some basic bushcraft cooking after the campfire burns down to coals.

We went CAMPING in our BACKYARD for 24HRS!!!
Our family loves a good adventure and nature. We have really been wanting to go camping especially after we went camping in California. But since we are now living in San Antonio Texas, we wanted to see the big open Texas skies at night. Since we are no experts we decided to camp in a tent in our Texas backyard first to practice! It was a lot of fun and I think the kids are now ready for their real Outdoor Camping Trip! Let us know if you want to see us go camping in Nature like for real!!! I went heavy rain camping deep in the forest with a Jeep-style off-road truck camper, rooftop tent, and cozy awning room

It's November in Pennsylvania, and there's a snow storm in the forecast for the higher elevations. I've been wanting to try out my hot tent and wood stove in some nasty winter weather, so I loaded it up into my truck and drove up to the mountain. To transport it into the woods I used my Jet Sled. While I'm out there I make some beef stew before bed and some pancakes in the morning with some coffee.

I built a secret camping fort under a highway overpass bridge and camped out in it for the night. It all went fairly smoothly eventually. It took a couple weeks to get the fort fully built and stocked but when it was done it was amazing. I color matched the paint of the bridge to paint the plywood to disguise my camping activities. We hauled up the fort, set it in place and had a very stealthy camping trip. No campsite required, earplugs optional.
