Sky News Australia host Sharri Markson says the most “horrific news imaginable” has emerged from the ongoing war between Israel and the Hamas terrorists.

According to Ms Markson, the Israeli Defence Force has discovered the bodies of 40 babies and young children.

“They'd been killed – some even beheaded,” she said.

“The shocking sight of beheaded young children with their heads cut off meant that the soldiers who found them and recovered their bodies were seen crying and comforting each other.

“There truly are no words to capture the evil, the cruelty that would lead these barbarians to take the lives of innocent tiny, beautiful babies.

“It is so evil that it's beyond comprehension, beyond belief.”

More than 1,000 Israelis were killed during the incursion, and a similar number have since been killed in Gaza as Israel continues to launch retaliatory airstrikes. This is the moment Palestinian terrorists led by Hamas attacked an Israeli music festival. Video from the ground shows the moment party-goers realised they were being attacked. Dark marks in the sky show where missiles were fired across the border from Gaza. Followed by paragliding gunmen who unleashed a massacre moments later. At least 260 people were killed at Nova Festival in what witnessed called an ‘ambush.’ People were cut down as they tried to flee in cars, and then on foot across open fields. Medics called to the scene said death squads attacked the exits and picked people off. Dash cam footage captured gunmen walking through the site and taking a hostage. Meanwhile drone footage revealed the extent of devastation from the air. It shows how cars snarled up the exit roads, leaving thousands of people with no way out. At least one Briton was killed in the carnage, along with a German tattoo artist. Her body was later paraded through the streets, and spat at by passers-by.

JERUSALEM and TEL AVIV, Israel – Rocket fire from the Gaza Strip continued to pummel southern Israel on Wednesday, day 5 of the Israel-Hamas war.

Meanwhile, Israel says it struck at least 450 Hamas targets in Gaza in the last 24 hours, while Israeli ground forces mass on the border for an imminent invasion.

The death toll in Israel continues to climb – more than 1,200 civilians dead, 170 soldiers slain, and more than 3,500 Israelis wounded. Forty murdered Israeli babies were found among the massacred civilians, and some of those babies had been beheaded.

The unprecedented response promised by Israel in the wake of the weekend's atrocities has now well and truly clicked into gear.

Earlier, the Israeli military said it had secured the border with Gaza, which is now under the heaviest bombardment in its history
