Half a century ago, on 20 July 1969, Neil Armstrong was in the final stages of the lunar descent, just a few thousand feet above the surface, when suddenly his on-board computer indicated a critical alarm. For three nail-biting seconds it looked as if the mission would have to be aborted. However, Armstrong was given a "go" to continue, and after several more alarms the Eagle touched down safely on the Moon.

Robert Wills introduces the amazing hardware and software that made up the Apollo Guidance Computer, walks you through the landing procedure step-by-step, and talks about the pioneering design principles that were used to make the landing software robust against any failure. In addition to Scream 7 and Wednesday season 2, Jenna Ortega's most notable upcoming project is Beetlejuice 2. The actress is set to reunite with Tim Burton to play the teenage daughter of Lydia Deetz. Though not many details have been released, Beetlejuice 2 is still scheduled to release on September 6, 2024. A fall 2024 release for Scream 7 would, in turn, make for an enticing box office battle with Ortega at the center. However, that would depend on the ongoing writer and actor strikes and how production shakes out with both Scream 7 and Beetlejuice 2.

After the Scream reboot was released in January 2022, Paramount wasted no time greenlighting another sequel, allowing Scream 6 to debut just 14 months later. Scream 7 wasn't announced as quickly, but the studio likely won't want any lengthy delays beyond the strike, believing a late 2024 release could still be a goal. Even if Beetlejuice 2 gets delayed by a few weeks or into October, Scream 7 could still overlap, allowing Ortega to have two major movies in theaters simultaneously. It will all depend on production delays and actor availability, but it's undoubtedly a fun scenario to consider.

Director Tim Burton has given his reason for finally making Beetlejuice 2, which makes the biggest character death theory far more credible. Arriving 36 years after the original movie, Beetlejuice 2’s story and characters pick up over three decades after the living Deetzes and recently deceased Maitlands battled the titular poltergeist. Beetlejuice 2 brings back original actors Michael Keaton, Winona Ryder, and Catherine O’Hara in addition to filmmaker Tim Burton, with the upcoming horror-comedy marking his first sequel since 1992’s Batman Returns. While the details of Beetlejuice 2’s story have been kept under wraps, Burton’s decision to helm the film after such a long delay and gap between directing sequels makes the mysterious plot more exciting.

In an interview with the British Film Institute, Tim Burton revealed the Beetlejuice questions that led to his interest in returning to the spooky world. Rather than rewatching 1988’s Beetlejuice to extract potential storyline follow-ups, the questions that stuck out to Burton were more removed, focusing on what became of the Deetz family over the past 35 years. Burton looked at the characters and asked, “What happened to Lydia… to the Deetz family? What happened to Catherine [Delia]? What happened to Charles?” Of course, Winona Ryder’s Lydia and Catherine O’Hara’s Delia are both confirmed to return in Beetlejuice 2’s cast. However, one character mentioned by Burton isn’t, which aligns with a popular Beetlejuice 2 theory.

Doc McGregor, former surgeon become player, is wrongly accused of murder and pursued by Slade, a bounty hunter. In his escape he finds Larry Kitchener's corpse and decides to impersonate him. But his problems get worse as Kitchener was a famous gunslinger hired as sheriff for the people from Baldosas to stop Reyes, a Mexican bandit who has terrorized them.

Carl Möhner is Doc, a former surgeon turned drunkard and gambler with a price on his head. A bounty hunter called Slade is on his trail, but Slade has never seen his face. To confuse Slade, Doc adopts the name of a dead man who went by the name of Kitschner and was known for his golden guns. In a small western town Doc is now taken for a famous gunslinger and offered the job of sheriff. He accepts the offer, mainly because he has an eye on a local beauty, but now the bandits who have killed Kitschner, think the man with the golden gun is still alive ...

A bit slow and predictable at first, the story picks up in the second half with a few plot twists and a flamboyant performance by Fernando Sancho as a sadistic Mexican bandit who enjoys shooting unarmed people, including women and children. The script is a nice variation on the doppelgänger motiv, with Mohner as the man who eventually starts identifying himself with the person whose name and fame he has stolen, becoming a better person in the process: the swindler really becomes the sheriff and the defender of the townspeople and also uses his neglected skills as a surgeon in the film's redemptive finale.

No less than four people contributed to the script and they all seem to have pushed forward their own ideas. As a result the narrative is meandering, with some story elements developed better than others, but at least the busy plot will have you guessing what will happen next. The movie is by no means great, but it's one of those minor genre entries that are easy to enjoy. The part of the intellectual turned cardsharp turned sheriff suits Möhner well and Davila is solid as the man on his trail who eventually becomes his deputy in the border town. The Italian title, L'uomo dalla pistola d'oro/The man with the golden gun, might have been a reference to Edward Dmytryk's Warlock, an very popular film in Mediterranean countries and released as L'homme aux colts d'or (The Man with the Golden Guns) in France and under similar titles in other countries.
