Greatest Hits Volume 1 and 2 (18 track album) - Jeannie C. Riley

This is a vintage live performance by Jeannie C. Riley of her hit song, "Harper Valley P.T.A.", written by Tom T. Hall.
Riley was raised in Anson, Texas. This song immediately became a gigantic hit for Riley and went to number one on both the Billboard Pop and Country charts, a feat not repeated until 1981 when Dolly Parton released "9 to 5". Riley and the song became an overnight sensation, and the song earned her the Grammy Award for Best Female Country Vocal Performance and the Country Music Association Single of the Year award. Riley also became one of the very few country artists ever nominated in the major pop Grammy categories of "Best New Artist" and "Record of the Year".
The song was a phenomenon which led to Riley making country music history in 1969 as the first female vocalist to have her own major network variety special, "Harper Valley U.S.A." Then in 1978 there was "Harper Valley PTA" the motion picture, and in 1981 "Harper Valley PTA" the television show.

Israeli media reports say the death toll from Saturday's attacks by the Palestinian militant group Hamas has passed 900 people. That's after some 100 more bodies were found in a small farming community near the Gaza border. Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said some Palestinian militants are still at large on Israeli territory and that the ongoing airstrikes on the Gaza Strip are just the beginning of a larger operation.

Lyrics:
The sun’s coming out,
The sky’s still blue
And I ain’t left the house
‘Cause what’s the use
You’re in my high, you’re in my drink
You’re right there when I’m sober
You ain’t here, but you won’t leave
You’re everything I ain’t over
Damn right
I’m a damn mess
In the same damn spot as the night you left
Hall of fame heartbreak
Damn if you ain’t the best
Ripped the damn thing
Right out my chest
Don’t know how I’m supposed to cut you loose
Don’t know how I’m gonna let you go
I’m damned if I do
Damned if I don’t
Get over you so I guess I won’t
One hell of a pill
For me to swallow
Somebody somewhere
Has got a tough act to follow
At rocking my world, or burning it down
Fell too far to fix it now
Damn right
I’m a damn mess
In the same damn spot as the night you left
Hall of fame heartbreak
Damn if you ain’t the best
Ripped the damn thing
Right out my chest
Don’t know how I’m supposed to cut you loose
Don’t know how I’m gonna let you go
I’m damned if I do
Damned if I don’t
Get over you so I guess I won’t
Damn right
I’m a damn mess
This is ‘bout as good as it’s gonna get
Hall of fame heartbreak
Damn if you ain’t the best
Ripped the damn thing
Right out my chest
Don’t know how I’m supposed to cut you loose
Don’t know how I’m gonna let you go
I’m damned if I do
Damned if I don’t
Get over you so I guess I won’t
The sun’s coming out,
The sky’s still blue

Joe Bugner vs James Tillis in a ten round non-title heavyweight bout

Date: September 15, 1986

Venue: Sydney Entertainment Centre, Sydney

Bugner stance: orthodox

Tillis stance: orthodox

Joe Bugner's UK-based comeback fizzled out when he lost a somewhat controversial split decision to Stefan Tangstad in Copenhagen. As Bugner had been slightly fortunate to win his previous fight against Anders Eklund, and had deservedly lost on points to Marvis Frazier, it was clear he had few boxing opportunities if he stayed in Britain. Bugner moved to Australia, and after less than 18 months out of the ring, it was time for his latest comeback at the age of 36.

James Tillis had challenged for the WBA title five years earlier, losing on points to Mike Weaver. His best wins were a seventh round stoppage of Ron Stander, and a points win over Earnie Shavers. Despite losing to all the other big names he faced, there were signs of improvement in 1986. His first bout of the year was against unbeaten Olympic champion Tyrell Biggs, and he gave a spirited effort while losing on points. In his next fight, he lost a close decision to Mike Tyson that some observers felt he won. Tillis then had two routine wins over journeymen before making the trip to Australia.

For an in depth look at their respective records, visit:

Joe Bugner - https://boxrec.com/en/proboxer/000924

James Tillis - https://boxrec.com/en/box-pro/803
