'Love at the Greek' is a live double album by Neil Diamond which was released in 1977. It was Diamond's second live album recorded from a concert at The Greek Theatre in Los Angeles, and Neil's second album produced by Robbie Robertson of The Band (the first being 1976's ‘Beautiful Noise’). The CD release does not include the songs ‘The Last Picasso’ and ‘Longfellow Serenade’.

This album was released in conjunction with a television special broadcast of the concert footage that aired in the United States on February 21, 1977. The television special, broadcast on NBC (and simulcast on FM stations nationwide) was also titled ‘Love At The Greek.’ The special was nominated for four Emmy Awards. This 1977 television special was also later released as a VHS Video Tape.

💎
This upload is the 2nd in a series of live concert performances following on my upload of Neil Diamond's 'The Thank You Australia Concert' [1976].

In the absence of high resolution (HD) video, I have sought to upgrade (from a VHS tape) the video quality and upgrade it from 4:3 to 16:9 aspect. In addition, I have also sought to upscale the audio. Sadly, this will have to suffice until such time that the Mastertape recording is released.

I have decided to embark on this mission to upload similar live performances for the benefit of Neil Diamond fans worldwide, in particular in countries where DVDs have become obsolete or are in the process of being so. - NDC

Editado de vídeo "Neil Diamond 1971 In Concert" (BBC) e áudio do Compacto Simples "Neil Diamond - 1971" (MCA Records)

A versão "Porque Brigamos" de Rossini Pinto, em 1972, fez muito sucesso no Brasil com a cantora Diana.

L.A.'s fine
Sun shines most the time
And the feeling is laid back
Palm trees grow
And rents are low
But you know
I keep thinkin' about
Making my way back
Well I'm New York City
Born and raised
Nowadays
I'm lost between two shores
L.A.'s fine
But it ain't home
New York's home
But it ain't mine no more
I am... I said
To no one there
And no one heard at all not
Even the chair
I am... I cried
I am... Said I
And I am lost and
I can't Even say why
Leavin' me lonely still
Did you ever read about a frog
Who dreamed of bein' a king
And then became one
Well except for the names
And a few other changes
If you talk about me
The story is the same one
But I got an emptiness deep inside
And I've tried
But it won't let me go
And I'm not a man
Who likes to swear
But I never cared
For the sound of being alone
I am... I said
To no one there
And no one heard at all not
Even the chair
I am... I cried
I am... Said I
And I am lost and
I can't even say why
I am... I said
I am... I cried
I am...

'THE STORY OF THE SONG IS IN THE SONG' - ND

This video is dedicated to Nancy Bandusena, for this song has touched her soul.

"Morningside is a very sad song. It's a song of dying alone, something I've been aware of for a long time. I was struck by it when my grandparents passed away - that they did die alone - that they weren't with their children when they died. A year and a half ago I was in London for the first time. I passed this shop and saw a beautiful table in the window. It was carved by hand and for some reason the two things came together and the song started then." ND 1972

"I’ve always regretted not filming the Hot August Night concert in ‘72, an album so pivotal in my career." - ND (2018)

Neil Diamond at his electrifying, mesmerizing and hypnotic best.

"And when he died he left a table made of nails and pride ..."

"And truth is sad for not a child would claim the gift he had ..."

MORNINGSIDE
NEIL DIAMOND
Morningside
The old man died
And no one cried
They simply turned away

And when he died
He left a table made of nails and pride
And with his hands,
He carved these words inside
'For my children'

Morning light
Morning bright
I spent the night
With dreams that make you weep
Morning tide
Wash away the sadness
From these eyes of mine
For I recall the words an old man signed
'For my children'

[Spoken:]
And the legs were shaped with his hands
And the top made of oaken wood
And all the children
That gathered around this great table
Touched it with their laughter
Ah, and that was good

Morningside
An old man died
And no one cried
He surely died alone
And truth is sad
For not a child would claim the gift he had
The words he carved became his epitaph
'For my children'

The Ed Sullivan Show was a television variety program that aired on CBS from 1948-1971. For 23 years it aired every Sunday night and played host to the world's greatest talents. The Ed Sullivan Show is well known for bringing rock n' roll music to the forefront of American culture through acts like Elvis Presley, The Beatles, and The Rolling Stones. The entertainers each week ranged from comedians like Joan Rivers and Rodney Dangerfield, to Broadway stars Julie Andrews and Richard Burton, to pop singers such as Bobby Darin and Petula Clark. It also frequently featured stars of Motown such as The Supremes, The Temptations, Stevie Wonder and The Jackson 5.
