CHIANG RAI, THAILAND - Today we’re traveling to the mountains of Chiang Rai and harvest, cook, and eat garlic chive roots - known in Thai as rak chu (กรากชู) with the Akha people - but before we arrive, we’ll enjoy a dish you can’t leave without trying.

Part 1) THAILAND’S HIDDEN DISHES, with Tourism Authority of Thailand - This is Part 1 of a series of 5 videos where we’re traveling across Thailand to eat 5 hidden dishes to support local communities and highlight their unique food. Today we’re in Chiang Rai (เชียงราย) to eat pork fried with garlic chive roots (หมูผัดรากชู).

Nam Ngiaw Mor Din Pa Aeed (น้ำเงี้ยวหม้อดิน ป้าอี๊ด) - https://maps.app.goo.gl/YJ6crY8nnEDfd5Ss9 - Immediately after landing in Chiang Rai, we got the rental car and drove straight to Nam Ngiaw Mor Din Pa Aeed (น้ำเงี้ยวหม้อดิน ป้าอี๊ด) to eat a bowl of nam ngiaw, a northern Thai dish including noodles and a tomato stew. It was as good as it always is. Something you don’t want to miss when you’re in Chiang Rai.

Pha Hee Coffee (กาแฟผาฮี้) - https://maps.app.goo.gl/gYCvVJ3dSYZA6zhd8 - The main destination was about an hour drive from Chiang Rai into the mountains to meet Pa Luang Aran, the head of the local Akha community. After a quick coffee we continued to harvest garlic chive roots and they made 3 different dishes, pork fried with garlic chive roots (หมูผัดรากชู), chili dip with garlic chives (น้ำพริกรากชู), and laab Akha (ลาบหมูอาข่า). It was an exceptional meal, everything fresh and dedicated to garlic chive roots.

Locus Native Food Lab (https://maps.app.goo.gl/8t4PYEd6CaG7up5Y8) - To complete this northern Thai food tour we went to the best gourmet northern Thai dining experience, led by Chef Kong of Locus Native Food Lab. Along with a full course of dishes, Chef Kong also cooked a dish using his own complete interpretation of garlic chive roots. An absolutely spectacular meal.

8. Go For an Island-Hopping Tour
We did a day trip by longtail boat, covering 4 islands. There were multiple stops for swimming and snorkeling and a stop at Railay Beach.

7. Hike the Wat Tham Sua
Sitting right outside of Krabi Town, the Tiger Cave Temple is certainly worth a visit. Most visitors come to climb the 1,260 steps to the top of the hill.

6. Explore Thung Teao Forest Natural Park
There is a short boardwalk trail that takes you to three different pools in the middle of the jungle: Crystal Pool, Emerald Pool, and the Blue Pool.

5. Dip into the Krabi Hot Springs
Cut into smooth rocks, the hot springs flow from deep rooted thermal springs that are located inside volcanic chambers.

4. Krabi Town Weekend Night Market
Krabi Town is the capital of Krabi. And like many other big towns in Thailand, there is a local night market here. Every Friday to Sunday from 4 to 10 PM the market is set up next to the Chao Fah Pier.

3. Go on a boat tour to Koh Phi Phi
Koh Phi Phi are undoubtedly Krabi’s most popular islands to visit. From Ao Nang, you can join a full-day speedboat tour to the islands, which are encircled with sandy beaches, crystal-clear waters, and spectacular natural scenery.

The Grand Palace is a complex of buildings at the heart of Bangkok, Thailand. The palace has been the official residence of the Kings of Siam (and later Thailand) since 1782.
The Grand Palace is made up of numerous buildings, halls, pavilions set around open lawns, gardens and courtyards.It is divided into several quarters: the Temple of the Emerald Buddha; the Outer Court, with many public buildings; the Middle Court, including the Phra Maha Monthien Buildings, the Phra Maha Prasat Buildings and the Chakri Maha Prasat Buildings; the Inner Court and the Siwalai Gardens quarter. The Grand Palace is currently partially open to the public as a museum, but it remains a working palace, with several royal offices still situated inside.

Wat Pho also spelled Wat Po, is a Buddhist temple complex in the Phra Nakhon District, Bangkok, Thailand. It is on Rattanakosin Island, directly south of the Grand Palace. Known also as the Temple of the Reclining Buddha, its official name is Wat Phra Chetuphon Wimon Mangkhalaram Rajwaramahawihan. The temple is first on the list of six temples in Thailand classed as the highest grade of the first-class royal temples.The temple complex houses the largest collection of Buddha images in Thailand, including a 46 m long reclining Buddha.

We took part in the morning buddhist alms giving with Ann and explored the village by motorbike showing just how beautiful rural Thailand is.

Today I visit Klong Toey, often referred to as a "slum" or portrayed as a dangerous neighborhood. Klong Toey is Thailand's largest slum area by title, however, if you go to Klong Toey and interact with the locals, you will see the overwhelming friendliness of the people within. This Bangkok neighborhood is one of my favorites to visit, today I bring my mate @JackTorr and we come to drink some beers and enjoy great times with the locals in Klong Toey. Throughout my travels of Thailand, I have yet to see a single Dangerous Neighborhood, or even be in an area I feel uncomfortable.

তারপরও কী শিশু, কী বৃদ্ধ, কী তরুণ, সব বয়সের মানুষ ছুটে আসছেন স্কাইওয়াক করতে।
সবারই বুকে ভয় আর মুখে হাসি। সত্যি সত্যিই এ এক হাড় হিম করা অভিজ্ঞতা।
ব্যাংকক। আধুনিক স্থাপত্য আর ইতিহাস-ঐতিহ্যে ঘেরা এক ব্যস্ততম শহর। এই শহরের সুউচ্চ ভবনগুলো নজর কাড়ে প্রতিনিয়ত। তবে স্কাইওয়াকের জন্য ৩১৪ মিটার উচ্চতার কিং পাওয়ার মহানখোঁ ভবনটি থাইল্যান্ডে আসা পর্যটকটদের অবশ্য গন্তব্য হয়ে উঠছে।
