Le Hamas a lancé une attaque massive contre Israël, le 6 octobre. Plus de 5000 roquettes ont été tirées. L’organisation terroriste palestinienne a également effectué des opérations depuis le sol et les airs, utilisant notamment des parapentes, pour entrer en territoire israélien. Cette attaque, inédite par son ampleur et sa violence, dirigée contre les civils, a pris de court les services de défense israéliens. Le pays est sous le choc. Le bilan provisoire fait état de plus de 700 morts et 2000 blessés côté israélien. Le Hamas a également procédé à des kidnapping, diffusant des images de civils malmenés et menottés et revendiquant plus de 130 otages. Le festival de musique techno Tribe of Nova, dans le désert du Neguev, a été le théâtre d’un véritable massacre : 260 corps ont été retrouvés. L’armée israélienne a répliqué en bombardant la bande de Gaza, sous contrôle du Hamas. 413 personnes sont mortes et 2 300 ont été blessées côté palestinien et on compte déjà plus de 123 000 personnes déplacées selon l’ONU. Le Premier ministre israélien Benyamin Netanyahou a promis de venger « une journée noire » pour Israël et d’utiliser « toute la puissance » de l’armée pour « détruire » le Hamas

Ce mercredi, les soldats israéliens ont pu accéder au kibboutz de Kfar Aza, à moins de 4 km de la bande de Gaza, où ont eu lieu des combats acharnés. Sur place, des journalistes ont constaté l'abominable scène, qui s'était nouée plus tôt déjà à Be'Eri, vingt kilomètres plus au Sud. Dans le village de Kfar Aza, plus de cent civils, dont des enfants, ont été massacrés, selon des militaires israéliens.
Israel declared war on Palestinian militant group Hamas on Sunday after its surprise incursion from Gaza. The three-day conflict has already claimed the lives of over 1,100 people on both sides, with more than 700 killed in Israel, including 44 soldiers.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Hamas’s offensive was the beginning of a "long and challenging war” and vowed to destroy the militant group’s hideouts. Meanwhile, in Gaza, which endured relentless Israeli airstrikes on Sunday, officials have reported at least 413 deaths.
