Zwischen ihren Songs erzählt Tina von den Höhenflügen und Tiefpunkten ihrer Karriere, sie legt schmerzliche Kämpfe und euphorisierende Erfolge offen. Der von Phil Spector produzierte Hit „River Deep Mountain High“ setzt ein, einer von Tinas ersten Solo-Erfolgen, und kurz darauf betreten muskulöse Tänzer die Bühne. Es folgen die hypnotisch-verruchten Songs „Private Dancer“, „Help“ und „Steamy Windows“. Wenige Minuten später befinden wir uns in einem TV-Studio der 60er Jahre und zusammen mit ihrer Band präsentiert uns Tina ihre Ike und Tina Turner Revue.

Die zweite Hälfte der Show nutzt Tina, um anhand eines Medleys von ihren beeindruckenden Begegnungen und Duett-Partnern zu erzählen: Egal ob David Bowie, Rod Stewart oder Bryan Adams – sie alle standen schon mit Tina zusammen auf der Bühne. Doch natürlich dürfen auch ihre legendären Beiträge zur Musikfilmgeschichte nicht fehlen, „Golden Eye“ und „We Don’t Need Another Hero“ gehören genauso ins Programm wie die Disco Hits „Acid Queen“, „When the Heartache is Over“ und „Disco Inferno“. Wen es bis jetzt noch nicht aus seinem Stuhl gerissen hat, der fängt spätestens jetzt an zu Tanzen, während sich die Show ihrem Höhepunkt nähert.

Zum Ende gibt es dann die größten Erfolge der Queen of Rock, „What’s Love Got To Do With It“ und „Proud Mary“ läuten das große Finale ein: Die Zugabe zeigt klar Tina Turner ist immer noch „Simply the Best“.

This is the 1966 original version that Tina Turner recorded with Phil Spector. Ike was not at all involved in this recording, despite his name being credited. That was the deal Phil made with Ike on the condition he stayed away. Phil wanted Tina to sing naturally, not screaming the way Ike wanted her to do on their recordings. My video includes photos from 1966 right through to present times, showing the popularity Tina endured over the years. Hope you enjoy it. Tina later re-recorded the song with Ike Turner for their 1973 album "Nutbush City Limits" (that particular version is arguably inferior).
