The life of singer-songwriter Neil Diamond has been dramatized, "warts and all," in the Broadway musical "A Beautiful Noise." Diamond, now 82, talks with correspondent Anthony Mason about continuing to sing; his diagnosis of Parkinson's disease (a condition for which he was, he says, long in denial); and about the calm that has - finally - moved into "the hurricane of my life."

LYRICS 2A BEAUTIFUL SONG, IV LOVED FOR OVER 20YRS
You don't bring me flowers
You don't sing me love songs
You hardly talk to me anymore
When you come thru the door
At the end of the day

I remember when you couldn't wait to love me
Used to hate to leave me
Now after lovin' me late at night
When it's good for you, babe
And you're feelin' alright
Well you just roll over and turn out the light
And you don't bring me flowers anymore

It used to be so natural to talk about forever
But "used to be's" don't count anymore
They just lay on the floor
'Til we sweep them away

Baby, I remember
All the things you taught me
I learned how to laugh
And I learned how to cry
Well, I leared how to love
And I learned how to lie
So you'd think I could learn
How to tell you goodbye
You don't bring me flowers anymore

Well, you'd think I'd could learn
How to say tell you goodbye
You don't say you need me
You don't sing me love songs
You don't bring me flowers anymore

'THE STORY OF THE SONG IS IN THE SONG' - ND

This video is dedicated to Nancy Bandusena, for this song has touched her soul.

"Morningside is a very sad song. It's a song of dying alone, something I've been aware of for a long time. I was struck by it when my grandparents passed away - that they did die alone - that they weren't with their children when they died. A year and a half ago I was in London for the first time. I passed this shop and saw a beautiful table in the window. It was carved by hand and for some reason the two things came together and the song started then." ND 1972

"I’ve always regretted not filming the Hot August Night concert in ‘72, an album so pivotal in my career." - ND (2018)

Neil Diamond at his electrifying, mesmerizing and hypnotic best.

"And when he died he left a table made of nails and pride ..."

"And truth is sad for not a child would claim the gift he had ..."

MORNINGSIDE
NEIL DIAMOND
Morningside
The old man died
And no one cried
They simply turned away

And when he died
He left a table made of nails and pride
And with his hands,
He carved these words inside
'For my children'

Morning light
Morning bright
I spent the night
With dreams that make you weep
Morning tide
Wash away the sadness
From these eyes of mine
For I recall the words an old man signed
'For my children'

[Spoken:]
And the legs were shaped with his hands
And the top made of oaken wood
And all the children
That gathered around this great table
Touched it with their laughter
Ah, and that was good

Morningside
An old man died
And no one cried
He surely died alone
And truth is sad
For not a child would claim the gift he had
The words he carved became his epitaph
'For my children'

In a recent interview between Stephen Gardner and former special agent of the FBI and CIA operative, Tracy Walder, they discussed various aspects of the Israel-Palestine conflict and its potential implications. Walder expressed her perspective on the likelihood of the United States getting involved in a hot war in the Middle East. She highlighted that Israel is not in the same situation as Afghanistan, suggesting that U.S. involvement would look different if it were to occur.

Walder also discussed the differences between Hamas and Hezbollah, both designated as terrorist groups by the U.S. government. She emphasized that not all Palestinians support these groups and pointed out the complexity of the situation. Walder indicated that she always considers the possibility of sleeper cells in the United States, given her background in counterterrorism.

The interview touched on the recent operation by Israeli forces in Gaza, where they rescued hostages and arrested Hamas fighters. Walder noted that while she hadn't seen the specific reporting, it is possible that Hamas had been holding more hostages than previously reported. She also explained the tactic of undressing hostages as a means of gaining compliance during interrogations.

The conversation delved into the changing dynamics in the Middle East and how they relate to immigration and global politics. Walder emphasized the need for structure and security in immigration processes to prevent potential risks and threats.

The interview also touched on the comments made by former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger about his life's work and its potential consequences. Walder suggested that Kissinger may be acknowledging the need for more structure in international relations.

Lastly, the interview highlighted former President George W. Bush's concerns about the conflict in Israel and Palestine and his stance against negotiating with terrorist organizations like Hamas. Walder supported his viewpoint, emphasizing the dangers of negotiating with groups designated as terrorists by the U.S. government.

Overall, the interview provided insights into the complex situation in the Middle East and the potential risks and challenges associated with the Israel-Palestine conflict and immigration policies.

This is the moment Israeli border police eliminated a Hamas terrorist near Gaza. Drone footage captured the shoot-out early Sunday morning in southern Israel. It shows one Jihadist taking cover behind a building in front of border guards. Heavily armed guards advanced towards him while taking cover behind a vehicle. Before a single shot was used to take the militant out, as he looked around the corner. It came as troops attempted to drive the terrorists back across the Gaza border. Following the largest and deadliest terror attack in Israel’s history on Saturday. More than 1,000 people - mostly Israeli civilians - were killed in the attack, led by Hamas. Israel now appears to be preparing a ground incursion into Gaza to wipe out Hamas. But there are fears it could spiral into a very bloody regional conflict.

Bodies of Israeli residents and Hamas militants lay in the grounds of the Kfar Aza kibbutz among burned out houses, strewn furniture and torched cars, as Israeli soldiers went from house to house to take away the dead.

Israeli Defense Forces took the foreign press through the site, one of the hardest hit areas when Hamas militants attacked Israel from the Gaza Strip.

A military spokesperson said the death toll from the Hamas attacks had climbed to 900, mostly civilians gunned down in their homes, on the streets or at a dance party, dwarfing the scale of any past attack by Islamists apart from 9/11. Scores of Israelis were taken to Gaza as hostages, with some paraded through the streets.

Israel pounded the Gaza Strip on Tuesday (October 10) with the fiercest air strikes in its 75-year conflict with the Palestinians, razing whole districts to dust despite a threat from Hamas militants to execute a captive for each home hit.

Gaza's health ministry said Israel's retaliatory strikes had killed at least 770 people and wounded more than 4,000.
