Tina Turner, whose birth name was Anna Mae Bullock and who was born on November 26, 1939 in Nutbush, Tennessee, began her extraordinary musical career in the 1950s as a member of the Ike and Tina Turner Revue. Tina Turner's birth name was Anna Mae Bullock. Tina was able to endure years of domestic violence at the hands of her husband and build a successful solo career thanks to her iron determination. Her 1984 single "Private Dancer" catapulted her to international fame, and in the years that followed, she released recordings that went platinum and were radio mainstays. Tina Turner, a great musician who was awarded eight Grammys over her career, passed away on May 24, 2023, at the age of 83, having made an indelible mark on the field of music.

Anna Mae Bullock's childhood was spent in Nutbush, Tennessee, where she was raised by her parents, sharecroppers Floyd and Zelma Bullock. Following the divorce of her parents, she relocated to St. Louis in order to be closer to her mother. There, she became heavily involved in the local R&B scene, which brought her to the attention of the pioneer of rock 'n' roll, Ike Turner, in the year 1956. Anna Mae, who is now better known by her stage as "Little Ann," joined Ike's band, the Kings of Rhythm, and almost immediately became a fan favorite among the audience.

Because the vocalist who was supposed to perform the lead vocals on the track "A Fool in Love" did not show up in 1960, Anna Mae ended up having the opportunity to record those vocals instead. It was released under the name Ike and Tina Turner, and it went on to become a major success, catapulting them to the forefront of the music industry. They began the Ike and Tina Turner Revue tour, which became famous for their energizing live performances and the ensuing hit singles they released.

Tina Turner was subjected to years of physical abuse at the hands of Ike Turner, despite their professional successes. She was ultimately able to end her relationship with him in 1976, and the divorce was formalized two years later in 1978. The beginning of her career as a solo artist was difficult for her because she had trouble finding success and was also having trouble making ends meet. However, Tina's perseverance and talent paid off when she recorded a cover version of Al Green's "Let's Stay Together" in 1983, and the song went on to become a hit.
