Myoho Renge Kyo â The wonderful Law of the Lotus Sutra
Ho ben pon dai ni: Skillful Ways
Ni Ji Se Son â There the World Honored One
Ju San Mai â Quietly came up
An Jo Ni Ki â From his samadhi
Go Shari Hotsu â And said to Shariputra:
Sho Bu' Chi E â The wisdom of the Buddhas
Jin Jin Mu Ryo â Is profound and cannot be measured
Go Chi E Mon â Its gate is hard to understand
Nange Nan Nyu â And difficult to enter.
Is Sai Sho Mon â No Shravaka-Disciple
Hyaku Shi Butsu â Or Self-taught buddha
Sho Fu No Chi â Can understand it.
Sho I Sha Ga â Why is that? (because!)
Butsu Zo Shin Gon âthe [present] Buddhas attended on many
Hyaku Sen Man Noku â hundreds of thousands of billions
Mu Shu Sho Butsu â Of [past] Buddhas,
Jin Gyo Sho Butsu â And practiced the many teachings
Mu Ryo Do Ho â Of those Buddhas bravely and energetically
Yu Myo Sho Jin â To their far-flung fame till they attained
Myo Sho Fu Mon â The profound Law
Jo Ju Jin Jin â Which you've never heard before,
Mi Zo U Ho â And also because they are exposing
Zui Gi Sho Setsu â The Law according to the capacities
I Shu Nan Ge â Of all living beings a way that the intention is hard to understand
Shari Hotsu â Shariputra!
Go Ju Jo Butsu I Rai â Since I became Buddha, I also
Shu Ju In Nen â Have been stating various teachings
Shu Ju Hi Yu â With different stories of previous lives,
Ko En Gon Kuyo â Various parables, and various similes.
Mu Shu Ho Ben â I have been leading all living beings
In Do Shu Jo â With countless expedients
Ryo Ri Sho Jaku â In order to save them from materialism,
Sho I Sha Ga â Because I have the power
Nyo Rai Ho Ben â To employ skills,
Chi Ken Hara Mitsu â And the power to perform
Kai I Gu Soku â The Paramita (reached goal of wisdom) of insight
Shari Hotsu â Shariputra!
Nyo Rai Chi Ken âThe insight of the Tathagatas
Ko Dai Jin Non â Is wide and deep.
Mu Ryo Mu Ge â They have all the [states of mind
Riki Mu Sho I â Towards] countless [living beings],
Zen Jo Ge Da's' San Mai â unchecked [intelligence], powers,
Jin Nyu Mu Sai â Fearlessness, dhyana-concentrations,
Jo Ju Is Sai â Liberations and samadhis. They entered
Mi Zo U Ho â Deep into no limits, and attained the Law which you've never heard before
Shari Hotsu â Shariputra!
Nyo Rai Nyo Shu Ju Fun Betsu âThe Tathagatas divide the Law
Gyo Ses Sho Ho â Into various teachings, and state
Gon Ji Nyu Nan â Those teachings so gently and skillfully
Ek Ka Shu Shin â That living being are delighted.
Shari Hotsu â Shariputra!
Shu Yo Gon Shi â In short, the Buddhas attained
Mu Ryo Mu Hen â The countless teachings
Mi Zo U Ho â Which you've never heard before
Bus Shitsu Jo Ju â No more
Shi â Will I say
Shari Hotsu â Shariputra
Fu Shu Bu Setsu â Because the Law
Sho I Sha Ga â attained by the Buddhas
Bus Sho Jo Ju â Is the highest Truth.
Dai Ichi Ke U â Rare [to hear] and hard
Nan Ge Shi Ho âTo understand.
Yui Butsu Yo Butsu â Only the Buddhas attained
Nai No Ku Jin â The highest Truth, that is
Sho Ho Jis So â The Reality of All Things
Sho I Sho Ho â In regards to:
Nyo Ze So â Their appearances (form? shape? size? ) as such,
Nyo Ze Sho â Thier natures (essence) as such,
Nyo Ze Tai â Their embodiments (present incarnation) as such,
Nyo Ze Riki â Their powers (potentiality also possibilities) as such,
Nyo Ze Sa â Their activities (function or role) as such,
Nyo Ze In â Their primary causes (obvious cause) as such,
Nyo Ze En â Their environmental causes (process) as such,
Nyo Ze Ka â Their effects (latent or hidden effect) as such,
Nyo Ze Ho â Their requital (final outcome or return) as such,
Nyo Ze Hon Ma' Ku Kyo To â And the combination of these [factors] as such (over and over again)
